I have never believed in New Year’s resolutions. I am not one to try and make promises that I can’t keep. It doesn’t make a difference to me if those promises are to other people or to myself. I prefer to stick within the realm of my own reality and try to accomplish the regular goals I set for myself. I think I set the bar high enough that this in itself is no small feat. I am not one who sits down and takes it easy; I enjoy a good challenge and constantly push myself to do more for myself as well as for my patients.
Often I see people floundering. They are looking for something to pull them up and to help guide them towards finding peace and contentment. Physical ailments can restrict one’s ability to set goals and work on achieving them. However, more often it’s the individual’s mindset that hampers him the most. People are so wary of change and of trusting themselves to make good decisions. Often they are stuck in a particular place, whether it is at work or at home, where they are preventing themselves from taking things to the next level.
You often see this with people who are unemployed. They are constantly seeking that perfect opportunity and thus let other opportunities pass them by. It is most unfortunate, as the reality is that the opportunities are the ones we create, the ones we make for ourselves. In most cases, our future is in our own hands. It is waiting for us to take it by the horns, take that leap, and create our own destiny.
It is much easier said than done, but it is important to first understand that it is within our grasp. Once you have this secured, you can begin the journey of attaining it, and enjoy the bumpy road ahead. There are some things that can help you in this endeavor. Acupuncture can help you with your physical ailments and with a mind—body connection as well. Here are some ways that acupuncture can help you as you begin your journey and set your own personal goals for your future.
Reduce stress and anxiety. Using acupuncture needles, we can make changes in the metabolic reaction within our circulatory system. It allows us to move qi and blood for proper circulation. By releasing endorphins, it helps us feel more relaxed and creates a shift in the body. The effects are felt immediately, but the overall benefit is achieved with a series of treatments.
Strengthen immunity. While we all enjoy a little unexpected warmth in the middle of winter, most people don’t fare well when the weather fluctuates as dramatically as it has been doing this year. It is difficult for our immune system to regulate itself when the weather fluctuates this much. To go from 65°F one day to a damp, cold 38°F the next doesn’t allow us a chance to adapt and get used to the temperature changes. During weeks like these, I often see patients coming in with the flu, runny noses, aches, fever, and sore throats. Acupuncture can help provide an immune boost. It can help you “weather the storm.” It is best to begin treatment before you feel sick so that you can already have it working on your behalf. Studies show that acupuncture releases T-cells throughout the body, allowing them to destroy viruses and harmful bacteria.
Achieve clarity. It allows you to have more awareness of both mind and body. This can benefit children who have difficulty focusing, as well as adults who feel they are all over the place and lack direction.
Keep looking younger. By coursing qi and blood throughout the body, acupuncture keeps you looking youthful. Facial rejuvenation is great for targeting specific problem areas. Acupuncture can help you achieve that glow you are looking for. At AcuZen, we also carry skin-care regimens to help you along your journey of looking young by stimulating collagen and elastin.
Relieve pain. Acupuncture has been proven as a chief method for pain relief used for over 4,000 years. It allows your body’s own energy to heal itself instead of utilizing pharmaceutical medications that may have devastating side effects.
Sleep better. Better sleep is of key importance as you continue along the path toward your goals.Children and adults alike are simply more productive on a full night’s sleep. However, it is not only the quantitative amount of sleep you get, but the quality of your sleep as well. It is the backbone of how productive you will be during the course of your day. Acupuncture can help relieve insomnia, help you sleep more hours, and have better, more restful sleep.
Maintain your energy level. It is essential that you have enough energy to get through the day. Many people feel themselves dragging and looking at the clock at work and counting down the minutes. When fatigue sets in, it can exhaust you physically and drain you emotionally. It makes it difficult to deal with even minor bumps and mishaps, let alone the tribulations that life, work, and family often bring. Acupuncture helps provide a lasting energy boost. It is a pure, healthy adrenaline rush that your body welcomes.
